L'articolo dice che Chaleco era preoccupato - nonostante il bel terzo posto assoluto al Rallye du Maroc con i colori di Bordone Ferrari - per alcune cose che erano successe nei mesi precedenti, a cominciare dalla dipartita di Oldrati dal team di enduro, proseguendo con la rinuncia di Gerard Farres, uscito dal team rally, fino alla denuncia del suo meccanico - di Lopez cioè, Roberto Boasso - riguardo cinque mesi di stipendio ancora da riscuotere. Così il pilota cileno ha capito, insieme ai suoi collaboratori, che qui ci voleva un piano B. E subito sono arrivate le indiscrezioni "...nel caso in cui il team non vada alla Dakar o non abbia le condizioni adeguate per portarci Chaleco - si legge sul giornale cileno - abbiamo già una Ktm Factory, con sospensioni e motore buoni come quelli che usano Despres e Coma". Intanto le trattative vanno avanti con la ben nota società Transportes Tamarugal che potrebbe occuparsi della logistica e dell'assistenza, mentre dovrebbe essere confermato, direttamente da Chaleco, un contratto con Roberto Boasso. In questi giorni verranno prese le decisioni definitive e se ne saprà di più.

Team Problems Alienate Bordone Ferrari’s “Chaleco” Lopez
Only a few days after Francisco “Chaleco” Lopez climbed upon podium of the Morocco Rally, his team, Bordone Ferrari of Italy, was hit by a stunning development. The Milan based team suffered the seizure of several of their rally and enduro bikes, equipment, and team supplies for failure to pay suppliers to the tune of $380,000.
In Chile, this situation put Chaleco on high alert. In recent months there have seen several signs that his team was not working well. Rumblings of unpaid mechanics and various team personnel began during the Baja Spain, then the departure of Thomas Oldrati soon after with allegations that the enduro team went unpaid for several months. More recently, Gerard Farres Guell left the team after having helped architect the joining of his friend, Lopez. Team mechanic Roberto Boasso, spent five months without pay and just this week, several entered team riders failed to show up for the Merzouga Rally in Morocco.
All these complications made it clear to Chaleco and his dedicated staff that they should have a “plan B” in case their fears come true and Bordone Ferrari either close completely or can not afford the trip to Dakar.
“The team has gone flat. Their situation is critical. Bordone Should not go to Dakar if they do not have the right conditions to do it. We already have a bike on which to compete, a factory KTM with engines and suspensions as good as using Cyril Despres and Marc Coma” says a source near Chaleco.
The final decision will be taken in the course of the next few days, but in the environment it is looking very hard for Chaleco to stay with a team that has failed to provide the minimum guarantees to go to Dakar, so they have been looking for alternatives to be in the rally without Bordone Ferrari, no matter what happens. Chaleco does not have the option of joining the official KTM team, but there have been discussions with Transport Tamarugal to address support, assistance, and logistics. Roberto Boasso will also accompany Lopez as his dedicated mechanic, and it can be guaranteed, paid this time.
