Filtro aria KTM 660 SMC

Mi chiedevo: perchè non cambiare il filtro aria al mio 660, pur lasciando l'air box originale?

Mi spiego meglio. Ho un 660 del 2004 con scarico completo Akra senza db-killer (ho girato un po' con il db-killer ma è un tappo micidiale, la moto perde tantissimo. E' un motore che vuole girare libero) e attualmente monto air box con la cover PP Ktm (leggermente più generosa in termini di flussi di aria) con all'interno un filtro aria in spugna della Athena, sostanzialmente sovrapponibile all'originale.

In ragione del fatto che questo è un motore che vuole molta aria, avevo pensato di sostituire l'elemento filtrante con un filtro in cotone. Uso la moto in strada, quindi non ho problemi di polvere, terra e fango.
La scelta dovrebbe ricadere su BMC, DNA, K&N.
Si tratta di filtri che si installano dentro alla cassa filtro, che resta intatta.

Tuttavia, non mi spiego la differenza di prezzo tra le tre marche.
BMC si trova sui 40 euro
DNA si trova sui 70
K&N si trova dai 160 a salire.

Quale scegliere e perchè c'è questa differenza di prezzo così elevata?

credo dipenda dai materiali, io ho messo il BMC e l'ho cambiato a seguito rottura di un pezzo di gomma che è entrata nel carburatore, ma è durato moltissimo, almeno 8 anni in perfetta forma

Per i materiali sembrano tutti strati di cotone e reti di alluminio, se fai una ricerca veloce vedi che sono assemblati in maniera diversa, il flusso d'aria cambia grazie anche alla forma che ha il filtro e alla dimensione, il k&n ha anche una parte filtrate in fronte e probabilmente ha una superfice aspirante maggiore.
Poi anche dentro sembrano diversi, io monto il tuo stesso filtro Athena, quindi non ho esperienza pratica.

Ci leggesse ancora Guglielmo, alias Guglemonster titolare della GuglaTech, saprebbe dirci con certezza le differenze tra le varie tipologie di filtri after-market ...li aveva studiati a fondo proprio per il suo lavoro

Mi sto convincendo di montare un DNA.
Anche perché credo di essere sicuro del fatto che entri nella cassa filtro senza dover fare modifiche.
Il K&N mi attira, ma vorrei capire le ragioni di un prezzo praticamente doppio al DNA.

Vi terrò aggiornati. Intanto devo cambiare il kit trasmissione per accorciare i rapporti, urge un 16-42.

Ho chiesto direttamente a quelli di KN cosa rendesse il loro filtro speciale, così da giustificare una spesa pari al doppio/triplo dei competitors.

Ecco la loro risposta:

The difference between our products and our competitors is the quality of the product and the way of testing the initial design. We design our products inside the original air filter housing, and we don’t copy the paper air filter. only this way we are 100% the filter fits but also seals the air filter housing. Once the design is created we send out prototype filter to the test lab. This is where we test the filter according ISO5011 and if the results don’t meet with our standards it means there is a small air leak somewhere. Then the filter will be redesigned and a new prototype will be made and tested again. This is done until we have created the perfect working air filter. only then we know we have the best design money can buy, and then we can give the 1.000.000miles warranty.

These are all things other brands don’t do, they rather go quick to market and accept all kinds of different warranty claims and need revisions afterwards.

A side note, when the bike is already equipped with an after market exhaust system your bike will also need to be remapped after you fit a high flow air filter. the exhaust makes the fuel mixture leaner, which itself is not bad. But the air filter will do exactly the same, and the combination of both will make the mixture too lean. This can be compensated with a remap.


Ps, ho specificato che ho un Ktm 660...e mi parlano di rimappare.. pirla ahahha

What separates our filters from most is our cotton oiled media provides an increase in air flow through the filter compared to a paper oem style filter, plus it is washable and reusable.

Mah …dalla precisione linguistico/lessicale, questa seconda sembrerebbe addirittura “tradotta con San Google”

Scegli il filtro che più t’aggradi …ma se non vuoi toccare o impazzire con la carburazione, a meno tu non disponga già di una configurazione testata per la specifica unità filtrante, (io) resterei sull’originale

Mi è stato consigliato anche il TWIN AIR in spugna... dicono abbia più superfice filtrante e sia più sicuro...vediamo
